Ski details

The Black Crows Ova Freebird is the culmination of years of experience making bomber Alpine Touring Skis by the French designers. The Ova is a classic mountaineering ski that flies up the uphills. A great balance between being very lightweight and still being able to be driven.

The Ova Freebird features a lightweight Paulownia wood core reinforced with Carbon and Glass for stiffness and Titanal to hold your bindings in. Summing to a measly 2250g for a pair, the lightest touring skis we stock.

If you've spent any time in Chamonix, you will know the incredible feats that are possible while strapped to a pair of Freebirds with a lightweight Tech Binding.

the nitty-gritty

  • weight: 2250g/pair @175.2
  • narrow width: 85mm waist.
  • light rocker: stability, small pivot, good edge grip, float.
  • extra long classic camber: classic camber underfoot with an extended ski/snow contact for alpine-style turns.
  • short turning radius (17m): very agile on smooth surfaces and crud alike.
  • moderate flex: a tolerant and comfortable ski.

Binding Details

The Marker Alpinist is the latest, greatest Pin Touring bindings from Marker. Ultralight, extremely durable and with superior features in this weight class – the Alpinist is perfect for high alpine challenges and multi-day missions.

The Marker Alpinist really shines on the uphill. Easy to use climbing aids, including the ever important 0° flat mode, ultralight (245g) construction & crampons that are simple to install/remove.

The 4-9 release values offer a great range for ladies and lightweight guys looking to scramble up mountains for the joy of skiing down. These aren't a binding you will want to spend many days in the resort on. Not only will they feel harsh and slow compared to alpine bindings, its a great way to destroy a pair of ultralight touring bindings.

Features

  • Adjustable DIN-setting: 4.0 - 9.0
  • Weight w/o brake: 245 g
  • Weight with brake: 335 g
  • Length adjustment: +/- 7.5mm
  • Active length compensation during ski flex
  • Heel: Rotate Pivot
  • Toe: PinTech with double spring
  • Material: Forged aluminium, carbon, fibre-reinforced polyamide

Skin Details

The G3 Alpinist skins are 100% nylon for solid water resistance and providing the best combination of grip and glide. The tip and tail attachment hardware are the prime features of these skins.

The G3 Alpinists have been the exclusive skins used by Richard & Nicole from aussieskier.com for their backcountry adventures in Europe, Japan and our own Victorian BC.

The Alpinist is the most versatile, reliable, go-anywhere climbing skin there is. These definitive climbing skins now fit an even broader range of ski lengths with up to 16 cm of length adjustment.

Everyone can use them, guides, pros, recreational users, everyone! Optimal glide, traction, glue, and attachments – ready for a lifetime of anything mother nature can throw at you.

All G3 Alpinist skins come with a G3 Trim Tool, G3 Skin Savers, and G3's new Skin Wallet included in the box. We can cut your skins for you as well, free of charge with any skin purchase.

Features

  • Innovative Laminated Tip Connector: With a new low profile, self-aligning stainless steel hands for a secure, lightweight connection.
  • New Tail Connector: With 16cm of length adjustment range, and new 'pop up' feature to make it easier to remove your skins with your gloves on.
  • Removable Rip Strip: Reduces skin-to-skin adhesion, making it easier to pull apart skins. New this year, if your glue gets contaminated on an epic traverse, you can remove the strip for extra adhesion.
  • Premium Plush: Proprietary lightweight, fast gliding, supple yet super durable nylon plush.
  • Non-Toxic Adhesive
  • PFOA Free: G3's new skin waterproofing treatment exceeds environmental standards.
  • Made in Canada: Proudly designed, tested and manufactured in BC, Canada.

Returns

Too big, too small, not stoked on the colour? No worries!

If you are not happy with your product purchased from aussieskier.com you can return, subject to the below conditions, within 30 days of purchasing your item. First step is to lodge an RMA request on our Return Portal

Items marked as Clearance are not eligible for a return. (Under Australian Consumer Law, defective items are not affected by this policy and will be treated as per the below Warranty section)

Return Conditions:

  • The item must be in unused/unworn and in re-saleable condition
  • Packaging must be original & undamaged with all stickers/tags etc still attached.

Electronic devices:

  • Device must not have been turned on and/or the battery inserted.
  • Device must be returned in factory sealed packaging.
  • Avalanche Beacons are not eligible for returns.

Skis:

  • Please note that we cannot accept returns/exchanges on skis that have been mounted.

Ski Boots:

  • Specifically for ski boots we ask you to not mark the soles while trying them on at home, only walk on carpet, boots used on concrete/hard surfaces will be refused a return.
  • Any attempt at heat moulding/boot modification will void the eligibility for return.

Warranty

  • Any defective items that are still within the manufacturer’s warranty period will be returned to the manufacturer or their local agent for warranty assessment.

  • The manufacturer or their local agent has sole discretion in determining whether an item is defective and qualifies for a replacement.

  • Be sensible – if you slide rails or hit rocks, your skis aren’t going to get replaced.

  • Luggage: Please note that luggage warranties specifically refer to manufacturing defects, not damage sustained during travel. For example a tear in the fabric isn't covered, but a burst seam or defective zip is.

Airline policies differ, but generally require you to report damage sustained to your luggage either at the airport or within 1-3 days of your flights in order to receive compensation.
