The time is upon us when the weather starts to turn cold and we start thinking about Winter. Early season snowfalls do nothing to ease the anticipation of another (hopefully great) ski season, and the resort marketing teams won't let you forget it's just around the corner either!
In preparation for the upcoming snow season, it's a case of the earlier the better when pulling out your old gear and checking whether it'll still be ok to use.
Make sure your ski boots still feel great on your feet.
Our feet change over time, even a Summer, and a little bit of discomfort can be normal in your first day back in ski boots. However, you'd hate to be pulling your ski boots on for the day one of the season to realise that they really needed the liner to be re-molded to your feet, or the shell to be expanded. At aussieskier, we offer a free Ski Boot Check with our expertly trained professionals for everybody, whether you've purchased the ski boots from us or not. They can perform any alterations necessary, whether your boots are too roomy or too tight, to have you skiing in comfort again.
Make sure you have every item you'll need and it's in working order:
Skis | Ski Boots | Ski Jacket |
Ski Pants | Thermal Tops | Thermal Bottoms |
Helmet | Goggles | Gloves |
Glove Liners | Beanie | Apres Boots |
Neck Tube/Gaiter | Puffy Jacket | Mid Layers |
Ski Socks |
Does all your gear still fit?
Hopefully, you've had an athletic Summer and everything is a touch on the roomy side now! Especially if you're taking the kids back to the snow it's important to check they haven't grown out of everything.
Organise your lift passes and accommodation early.
The earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. Plenty of Australian resorts offer discounted lift tickets for purchasing in advance and so do hotels and ski lodges. Saving a few dollars from being organised and organising these things early might be the difference in getting those new goggles you desperately need or updating your ski jacket that doesn't keep you dry anymore.
